Getting started
A quick overview of what you can do on this site.
Use the search bar on the homepage to look up any researcher by name or institution. You can also search by study name. That's all you need - no ID or special info required.
Open a researcher's profile and fill out the form. You don't need to wait for the study to be approved or rejected - submit your review while the experience is fresh. You'll confirm the outcome later.
After Prolific processes your submission (can take days or weeks), open the task list in the top bar. For each pending review, pick what happened: Approved, Rejected, Screened Out, Timed Out, Asked to Return, or Returned (if you voluntarily cancelled). Your choice shows as a color-coded badge on your review and feeds into the researcher's stats.
Got a bonus on an approved study? You can add the bonus amount when confirming the outcome. This helps the community see which researchers actually pay bonuses.
Tag your review with quick labels so others can spot patterns at a glance - things like underpaying, slow approval, clear instructions, or technical issues. Tags show up as chips on your review card.
Reviewing from a university or platform account (e.g., Stanford, Maze)? Check the "shared account" box and enter the individual researcher's name or ID from the consent form so others can identify them.
Reply to any review to add context or ask questions. Threads nest up to 5 levels deep.
Upvote reviews you find helpful. One vote per review per account - click again to remove it.
Check the leaderboard to see the most active and helpful reviewers. There are three rankings: Top Reviewers (most reviews), Most Helpful (most upvotes), and Rising Contributors (most active in the last 30 days). Each reviewer earns a credibility tier based on their activity.
Posts from the site admin show a verified badge - a purple shield icon that can't be faked. If you see it, the post is from the person running this site.
Browser Extension
Install the Prolific Tea extension and it quietly learns which researchers run which studies as you browse Prolific. It also fills in missing pay and time data on your old reviews using your own submission history.
It never touches Prolific's page or collects anything about your Prolific account. Your Prolific ID is never collected or seen by the extension or our servers. Only researcher and study details are used.
Get it for ChromeFinding a Researcher ID
Adding a Researcher ID is optional but helps keep profiles linked if a researcher changes their display name. We have a visual walkthrough showing exactly where to find it on Prolific.
