Prolific Tea ("the Platform") is a community-driven opinion platform where Prolific participants share their subjective experiences with researchers whose studies they have participated in.

All reviews, ratings, and comments on this Platform represent the personal opinions and experiences of individual users. They are not statements of fact, verified claims, or endorsements by the Platform. Aggregate ratings are mathematical averages of user-submitted opinions.

The Platform does not verify, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy of any user-submitted content. We are a neutral host for community opinions, similar to other review platforms.

By submitting content, you agree that:

• Your reviews reflect your genuine, personal experience as a Prolific participant.
• You will frame feedback as opinions and experiences, not as statements of fact. For example: "I felt the rejection was unfair" rather than "This researcher scams participants."
• You will not post content that is defamatory, threatening, harassing, discriminatory, or illegal.
• You will not post personal information about researchers beyond their professional name and institutional affiliation as they appear on Prolific (no personal email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, or other private details).
• You will not upload images containing personal information of other individuals, or copyrighted material you do not have the right to share.
• You will not manipulate ratings through fake reviews, multiple submissions, or coordinated voting.
• You retain copyright in your reviews and comments. You grant the Platform a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, display, reproduce, aggregate, index, translate, and create derivative summaries of your content for the operation, promotion, and search/AI-citation discoverability of the Platform. This license persists for content you have not deleted. You may request removal at any time; removal terminates the license going forward.

By using the Platform, you agree to the following restrictions on use of its content:

• You will not scrape, crawl, or systematically extract content beyond what robots.txt permits at the rate it permits.
• You will not use the Platform's content to train, fine-tune, or evaluate machine learning models other than for live-retrieval AI search citation (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity answering a user question and citing the source URL).
• You will not republish reviews verbatim on another site or product. Short attributed quotations under fair use are fine.
• You will not request a bulk data export or attempt to access a data API. We do not provide one.
• You will not reverse engineer, frame, mirror, or rebrand the Platform.
• Commercial reuse requires prior written permission. Email [email protected].
• Violations may result in IP blocking, account suspension, DMCA notices to your host, and other remedies.

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms, and to restrict access for users who repeatedly violate them. This includes but is not limited to:

• Removing reviews that contain personal attacks, threats, or harassment.
• Removing content that makes unsubstantiated factual allegations (as opposed to sharing opinions).
• Removing spam, duplicate reviews, or manipulated ratings.
• Banning accounts associated with abusive behavior.

Moderation decisions are made at our discretion. This is a volunteer-run project, and we do our best to be fair and consistent.

If you are a researcher listed on this Platform and believe that a review contains false statements of fact (not opinions), you may contact us to request a review. We will:

• Review the flagged content within a reasonable timeframe.
• Remove content that we determine violates our content guidelines (e.g., contains verifiably false factual claims, personal attacks, or harassment).
• Retain content that constitutes protected opinion or genuine experience sharing, even if the researcher disagrees with the sentiment.

Name redaction requests: If you prefer not to have your name displayed publicly, you may request name redaction. We will replace your displayed name with "Redacted Name" while preserving the review history under your Researcher ID. This does not remove the reviews themselves.

To submit a dispute or redaction request, contact us at [email protected] with the researcher name, the specific review(s) in question, and an explanation of why you believe the content violates these terms.

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

User-generated content represents the opinions of individual users. The Platform does not verify, adopt, or endorse any user-submitted content. We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any reviews, ratings, or comments.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Platform and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform or any content posted on it.

This Platform is not affiliated with Prolific Academic Ltd. in any way. "Prolific" is used solely to describe the context in which researchers and participants interact.
